Transform IT Celebration - April 2010

Celebrating the Success of Transform IT - April 2010

On Friday 23rd April the Partnership hosted a celebration event to mark the successful completion of the Transformation Fund project 'Transform IT'. Partner organisations, steering group members, learners, community intermediaries and staff all came together to hear talks about the project and to watch videos of learners and their tutors talking about their experiences.

Learners were awarded certificates for taking part in internet-based Online Basics courses and a raffle was drawn. Musical entertainment was provided throughout the evening by the Dave Gilbert Jazz DuoThe Surrey.

Transform IT project has sought to change the way in which information technology learning is delivered in the community, developing the capacity of tutors countywide and training intermediaries capable of using new technologies and applications in imaginative ways. The success the project has enjoyed has been due, in large measure, to the strong partnership which has steered the project. The project uncovered huge demand for information technology learning in the community and learner engagement targets were greatly exceeded.

We are grateful to all of those who engaged in the project - members of the steering group, other partners, tutors and learners - for their energy, enthusiasm and support. We are also grateful to BIS for providing transformation funding which allowed the piloting of new approaches to engage people in learning in the community.
