Learning through enterprise

Bike Project

Bicycles donated by the public and various agencies are completely refurbished and sold from outlets in Sheerwater and Stoke and Westborough. Sales income contributes to the running of the enterprise. Unemployed men and women gain work experience and confidence while on the Project. This flagship venture has helped many who have been reluctant to return to learning to gain City & Guilds Cycle Maintenance Awards and other skills.

Computer Project

Working on well tested principles, the Computer Project refurbishes donated computer equipment and sells this at competitive price. Income is re-invested to contribute to project costs. The real purpose of the Project is to engage volunteers and initially reluctant learners. It will provide opportunities for confidence building, learning and gaining skills for future employment. We are grateful to Pfizer for their generosity in donating the first 200 laptops.

GLADE Project

The Guildford Learning and Development Enterprise (GLADE) delivers gardening and street cleansing services for Guildford Borough Council. It also provides opportunities for residents in Stoke and Westborough to volunteer, gain work experience, skills and employment. GLADE has provided courses in amenity horticulture, confidence for work, office IT and numeracy. Two local charities partner us in this venture – Oakleaf Enterprise and YMCA Downslink.
